My pride and joy!!  These are shelves that were made for me by my husband.  Craft room in progress.....
This picture is of the wall above my work area.  At the top of the wall are regular old cork boards cut in half.  The cut edge is at the ceiling and we kept the remaining 3 sides of the frame.  This is where the really inspiring work I receive goes.  In the center is where "part" of my ink pads are stored.  My husband thought it would be plenty of room.  I filled it the night he put it up.
This is a close up of how the shelves are hung on the wall.  These have a detail routerd in the edge and are sprayed with a clear sealer.  They are made of knotty alder to match the wood in our home.

If you are on a budget or don't have a place to cut boards, you should be able to go to Home Depot, or the like, and use a piece of casing (the stuff that is around your doors at home) for the bottom and have them rip some boards, or find some board about 3/4" x 2" in the moulding section of the store for the tops.  Nail the casing or bottom piece to the wall then nail the shelf from the top down in to the casing.  Works great for me!!
Another wall in my room.  The top shelf is for, so far, my altered book, shrine, assorted boxes and tri-fold picture frame.  I wanted somewhere to display larger items.  On the left of the picture is an over the door shoe rack that I have stuffed with balls of fiber.
